What Will They Need To Do?

Now it is time to identify all of the web site features required to accomplish these goals, from one-way communication elements such as news, courses and resource databases; to collaborative elements such as forums, calendars and community directory features.

Additionally, this is the step where work flow management requirements are identified; as well as the security model required to ensure data integrity and privacy.

Where possible, we implement "Administrative Empowerment" - which simply means that for each piece of information that your site maintains: the person who knows the data the best, should be the person authorized to make changes to it. We design in feedback loops to make it easy for these people to spot errant data, and make corrections. We also design in approval work flow paths to ensure that all information maintained by the site is consistent with your information publishing policies.

When all community members and proposed site features are considered together, a clear end-user design begins to emerge. This design will dictate intuitive interfaces for all stakeholders, while harnessing the collective strength of your entire community.
